There’s something about autumn that naturally invites us to slow down. For adults, the brisk air and technicolor trees remind us that joyful changes are on their way. For toddlers, these seasonal shifts are pure magic. Every falling leaf, every burst of color, every crunch underfoot is an exciting new discovery!
At Tiny Green Learning, we believe that nature is an amazing classroom and fall has the most inspiring lessons. Your family can tap into that autumnal magic with a Fall Color Hunt: a simple, joyful, opportunity to notice, wonder, and investigate together.

How to Get Started: Take a slow walk outside, around the block, through your backyard, or at a nearby park. Bring along a small basket to hold your treasures. Invite your child to look for the colors of the season: the reds of fallen maple leaves, the golden yellows of elms, the deep browns of oaks. Ask open-ended questions like, “What do you notice?” or “What does it sound like?”
You might find that your child stops to marvel at things you wouldn’t even notice- katydids climbing tree trunks, or bumpy, gall-covered leaves. These are the tender moments that make outdoor learning memorable for little learners!
Remember, autumn won’t last forever, so get out there and explore!
